8 Problematic Dopamine Seeking Behaviours in ADHD
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter in the brain which allows brain cells to communicate with each other. It's associated with the reward system and plays a big role in memory, mood, motivation, working towards goals and how we learn. In ADHD, Dopamine levels are lower than in the neurotypical brain, so people with ADHD are constantly seeking big Dopamine hits. This leads to inattention, impulsivity, engaging in risky behaviour and the need for instant gratification.
